Late Onset

Letra
Irresistible unstoppable
hemorrhage
aortic geyser of consonants and vowels
Splashed across the page
Late onset, late bloom
A thought kicks the door
Bibble babble in my teeth
Then it's already more
Bypass the tongue
Let the fingers run
What starts as a spark
Becomes a loaded sun
I try to hold it down
It climbs my ribs
From fog to voltage
In one hard flick
A tiny opening
A sudden light
Then it takes my wrist
And writes all night
Too fast, too bright
It won't slow down
(too fast)
Too loud, too sharp
All over now
Late onset
Late onset
I am two selves
In one cracked sound
Fixation obsession desperation
Bibble babble leaping to the fingers
Bypassing tongue and brain
Irresistible spill
On the clean white page
A small-town riot
In a rib-cage cage
Consonants race
Vowels break loose
Every line I touch
Turns to something true
Literary homicide writ
small across the cellular
constrained only by the screen size and life
From fog to high voltage arcing
medulla to cortex
Uninterrupted by corpus or awareness
Abruptly gone into the aether
from which they oppressed
Momentary clarity 'tween two selves
And then it vanishes
Just as quick
One blink of fire
One final click
I stand there stunned
With open hands
A page of ash
And a pulse that ran
Too fast, too bright
It won't slow down
(too fast)
Too loud, too sharp
All over now
Late onset
Late onset
I am two selves
In one cracked sound
For a second I see
The seam in me
The watcher, the wildfire
The space between
Not one, not split
Just briefly clear
A nameless hush
Then it disappears
Too fast, too bright
It won't slow down
(too fast)
Too loud, too sharp
All over now
Late onset
Late onset
I am two selves
In one cracked sound
Late onset
Late onset
Then gone, then gone
